Violet Doris Miller Birch Andersen age 91 of Logan, Utah died September 4, 2012 at Legacy House in Logan Utah of natural causes. She was born Oct 4, 1920 in Bear River City , Utah the sixth of eleven children born to Ole Sylvanus and Jensine Nelson Miller. She lived in Bear River City during her childhood and the early years of her first marriage to Kenneth Birch. They were married on February 23, 1937 . During World War 2 they lived in Portland , Oregon and worked in the ship yards as welders serving their country. Later they returned to Bear River City and then moved to Corinne , Utah . They were later divorced. She married Clarence Richard Andersen of Trenton , Utah on June 3, 1963 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple . They lived in Trenton for many years and then moved to Logan where she lived until her death. She was always active in church and civic affairs and served in many church positions in both Ward and Stake callings. She and her husband served two church missions. They were directors of the Los Angeles L.D.S. Visitors center for three years and also served as missionaries at the Mesa Arizona Visitors Center for one and a half years. She also served as a name extraction missionary and an officiator in the Logan L.D.S Temple . She was a Visiting teacher most of her adult life. She and her husband were regular Temple attendees. After her husband died, two of her sisters, a niece and a friend enjoyed attending the temple often. Her family and the Church were always her first priority and her source of joy and happiness. She was judge of elections in Logan City for several years and a volunteer at the Logan Regional Hospital . She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and a member of the Yesharah Organization for returned Lady Missionaries for the L.D. S. Church. She is survived by three sons and their wives. Kenneth R. Margaret Birch of Perry, Utah, Harold Kay Vera Birch of San Diego, California and Richard N. Kathy Birch of Hyrum, Utah. Four stepchildren and their spouses, Arlene A. Kupfer, Trenton , Utah , Beth A. Paul Chambers, Blackfoot, Idaho, Janice A. Glade Griffin , Trenton , Utah , Ross W. Gina Andersen, Lehi , Utah . Three brothers, Lyle D Norma Miller, Pahrump, Nevada, Joyce Miller, Ogden, Utah. One sister Artell Brailsford of Bear River City , Utah . A large number of grandchildren, Great grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a stepson and his wife Jay C. and Elaine Andersen, Stepson-in-law Raymond Kupfer, four brothers, Leo, Clayne, R. LaMont and Woodrow Miller. Three Sisters, Arva DeLone Miller, Sadie Hunsaker and Nola Burton. Three brothers-in-law and three sisters in law. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Logan Fourth Ward Chapel 294 North 100 East with Bishop David Simmons conducting. Friends and family may call at Nelson Funeral Home 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Trenton City Cemetery.
