Arlene Kupfer

Jul 16, 1931 — Aug 17, 2026

Trenton

Arlene Andersen Kupfer passed away peacefully Monday morning, August 17, 2026 in her home in Trenton, Utah. She was born July 16, 1931 in Bear River City.

We lost our angel mother, our strong and faithful leader, and our hero.

Mom was a force of nature. She grew up in the sugar beet fields alongside her father, her brother - just 16 months older - and her two maternal uncles. She learned at an early age the value of hard work, determination, and doing whatever needed to be done. If she wanted or needed something done, she often simply did it herself. She worked hard her entire life.

She grew up in a loving home surrounded by many extended family members, her grandparents, great grandparents, and aunts and uncles. Family was important to her, and she carried that love throughout her life.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Raymond Kupfer, in the Salt Lake City temple. They were married for 21 years before Raymond's death.

She was an amazing cook, candy maker, and pie baker. Nobody's pies could match Mom's.

She was a voracious reader and if she didn’t know something she would find out. She loved literature and poetry (only the rhyming kind) and she loved words. She taught all the grandkids to play Scrabble.

Her greatest joy in life was holding a baby. She spent many hours holding a grandchild on her lap reading to them and sharing her love of reading.

Mom was the Postmaster in Trenton for 23 years. She made many lasting friendships in her time as the Postmaster.

She took pride in having a beautiful yard and garden. She had a variety of flowers in her garden and could tell you the names of everyone of them.

Dad passed away 55 years ago and left her to raise 7 children, ranging in age from 19 years to 18 months old. Mom was such an amazing mother that we mostly felt like we didn't miss out on having a dad around because she filled in the gaps, carried the load, and gave us everything she had.

Arlene is survived by her 7 children, Cheryl Stayner (Ralph), LeAnn Paskett (Brent), Brad Kupfer, Rita Allen, Bruce Kupfer (Heather), Chelese Godderidge (Brent), and Jenny Kupfer, 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, her sisters Beth Chambers (Paul) and Janice Griffin (Glade), as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her grandsons Kurt and Daniel Kupfer, her brothers, Jay and Ross Andersen, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nora and Emil Kupfer, her parents, Clarence and Bessie Andersen, her stepmother and dear friend, Violet Andersen.

A special thank you to the Sunshine Hospice team for their extraordinary care of our mom, especially Erin and Rob.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Trenton church, 400 W 1200 N, Trenton, Utah, with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 at the church prior to the funeral. A viewing will also be held Friday, August 21, 2026 from 6-8 at Nelson Funeral home, 85 S Main, Smithfield Utah.

In lieu of flowers, please go buy a flower to plant in your yard or take your children or grandchildren for a walk through a flower garden, or read a book to them. That would be a beautiful way to honor our Mom.

We love you, Mom!
