Brent Jorgen Andersen, age 81, passed away shortly after celebrating his birthday, leaving behind a legacy of joy, humor, and unwavering determination. He was born on April 3, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a twin and the youngest of six children to Otto and Ireta Andersen. Brent grew up surrounded by his four sisters Yvette, Gloria, Delores, and Judy and his twin brother Bruce, forming bonds that shaped his entire life. He spent most of his adult years living with his sister Delores and her husband Bryce, where he was deeply loved and cared for. After Delores passed away, Brent moved to Benson, Utah, where his niece Nikki and her family, lovingly continued caring for him.
During his time in Benson, Brent especially loved getting the mail for the neighbors. In Lapoint, the mail hadn’t been as accessible, so this simple task became something he looked forward to every single day. On days when the mail didn’t come, he would get a little upset, but he quickly found joy in other routines; feeding the animals on the farm, helping with outdoor chores, and doing anything that allowed him to be outside. Rain, shine, or snow, Brent loved being active and embraced every moment he could spend in the fresh air.
Brent was known for his adventurous spirit and love of exploring, often seen riding his bike with a sense of freedom and excitement. He enjoyed doing puzzles, cheering on his favorite team; the Utah Jazz, working on the farm, and coloring pictures with pride and focus. One of the greatest highlights of his life was participating in the Special Olympics, where he thrived, made countless friends, and earned many trophies and medals. He loved showing them to anyone who would look, and he had every reason to be proud of his accomplishments. Brent also looked forward to going to church every Sunday, where he found joy in the gospel and in seeing the many new friends he had made over the years.
Those who knew Brent will remember his wonderful sense of humor, his silly noises, and the way he could make anyone smile. His kindness, enthusiasm, and joyful presence touched the lives of everyone around him. Brent will be forever missed and forever loved by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We take comfort in knowing that he was greeted by so many loved ones when he arrived in heaven, and that they are now sharing a beautiful, joy-filled reunion together.
A graveside service will be held at the Lapoint Cemetery in Lapoint, Utah, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
