Colleen Nate, 79 of Logan, Utah passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5, 2026. She was born October 4,1946 in Montpelier, Idaho to Stanley and Fern Nate. Colleen was the third of six children. She was raised in a loving home in Cokeville, Wyoming where she was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ. She learned the value of service and hard work at the feet of her parents, traits that she exhibited throughout her entire life.
Colleen faced many health challenges in her youth and throughout her life, yet that did not prohibit her from accomplishing many things. She graduated from Cokeville High School in 1965. She began working at KVSI Radio in Montpelier, then KBLW Radio in Logan. She then spent 32 years at Utah State University working in the Student Center as a Financial Coordinator. She developed many lasting friendships throughout her career.
While working at USU she interrupted her career to serve a mission. She was called to the Birmingham, England Mission in 1981-82. It was a wonderful experience where she developed lifelong relationships with her companions and those she served in England. After her mission she returned to work at USU and retired in 2008.
Colleen was an avid sports fan. She loved watching games, especially when family members were playing. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings. Her valiant testimony and deep faith provided strength for all of her family members throughout her life.
She lovingly took care of her sister Lucille and her mom, providing them with a home in their later years and with tender care. Colleen’s love centered around family! She loved and spoiled each of her 19 nieces and nephews. That same affection continued to her 63 great nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lucille Layland and Garnett James and brother Cornell Nate. She is survived by two brothers Keith Nate (Lynette) of Rexburg, ID and Kent Nate (Jane) of South Jordan, UT and Alan James (brother-in-law) and Susan Nate (sister-in-law).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, 11 am, at the LDS Chapel, 280 W. 1200 N. in Logan. A viewing will be held before the service from 9:30-10:30. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery next to her sisters.
