Curtis Jeffrey Burks, age 31, passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2025, in North Logan ,UT. Born on March 10, 1994 in Bloomington, IN, Curtis lived a life marked by passion, purpose, and faith.

A graduate of Bloomington High School South, Curtis pursued his lifelong dream of flight at Utah State University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Professional Pilot. With the support and mentorship of the Utah State University Aviation team, Curtis achieved his goal of becoming a pilot. He served as Certified Flight Instructor from 2017-2020 before transitioning to work as an aircraft mechanic from 2020 through 2025.

Curtis also served his country as a member of the Utah Air National Guard from 2012-2018.

Those who knew Curtis remember him as fiercely loyal to friends and family. He was conscientious and meticulous in all he did, whether maintaining aircraft or building custom computers. He enjoyed anything with an engine and especially time spent riding his motorcycle. Snowboarding and motorcycle adventures were among his favorite pastimes. Curtis valued doing life with his friends and family.

Curtis was a man of faith who found community and spiritual growth at Alpine Church Logan. He believed wholeheartedly in Jesus’ finished work on the cross and served in various ministries in the church. His confidence in eternal life with Jesus brought him peace throughout his journey.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents Brent and Dawn, his brother Kyle, sister-in-law Maggie, and sister Quinna. Additionally, extended family including grandmother Sue Lindsey, aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, and many cousins hold Curtis dear in their hearts. Thank you for loving Curtis.

CJ’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Joe Mendez and the team at Huntsman Cancer Institute for their expertise and care. Dr. Mendez’s friendship meant a lot to Curtis and brought comfort during challenging times.

A visitation will be held on December 18, 2025 from 5-8pm at Nelson Funeral Home 162 E. 400 North in Logan, UT. Funeral services continue December 19, 2025 at Alpine Church 395 S. Main St in Logan with visitation from 10:30-11:30am and a service starting at 12pm.

A memorial service will be held at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, IN on a date to be determined.
