Daniel Corbett Leatham, also known as Dan, was born on April 11, 1937, in Smithfield, Utah, and passed away on April 25, 2025, at Williamsburg of Logan, Utah. Dan’s life was a testament to hard work, kindness, and a love for adventure that transcended the ordinary.
As a dedicated custodian at Utah State University, Dan poured his heart into his work, where his meticulous attention to detail and warm smile brightened the days of all who crossed his path. His commitment to service extended beyond his profession; Dan was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he found community and purpose throughout his life.
Raised in Wellsville, Dan spent his formative years attending South Cache High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with rich experiences and connections. A lover of travel and an avid collector, Dan found joy in exploring new places and amassing treasures that filled his heart and home with memories.
Dan leaves behind a cherished family, including his beloved daughter, Melanie Leatham, and his precious grandchildren: Kelsey, Daniel, Emily, and Nicholis. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and their laughter and love brought him immeasurable joy.
He is also survived by his sister, Ardis (who was married to Bill, now deceased), and his brother, Robert (Tony). He is preceded in death by his sister, Janet (Randy). Dan's legacy of love extends through his nieces and nephews: Kevin, Chantel, Candis, Britney, and Reese, as well as his late nephews Terry and Travis. These family members shared countless moments of laughter, support, and memories that Dan treasured deeply.
Dan's journey was not without its challenges. He married Laura Lee Bird Jensen, but the couple later parted ways. Launa has since passed, as has Josie Mae Ricks, whom Dan also married and later divorced. These experiences enriched his understanding of love and life.
As we gather to remember Dan, friends and family are invited to pay their respects. A viewing will be held on April 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Nelson Funeral Home, located at 162 E 400 N, Logan, UT, 84321. Following the viewing, a graveside service will take place at Wellsville City Cemetery, 400 North 200 East, Wellsville, UT, 84339, starting at 11:00 AM.
Dan's enduring spirit and the love he fostered among his family and friends will forever remain in our hearts. Though he has departed, his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for adventure will continue to inspire those he touched. May he find peace, and may we carry forward the light he shared with the world.
