David Lopez Flores was born on March 5, 1961, in El Salvador. He was the oldest of five children and was raised by his mother, Maria Isabel Flores, and his grandfather.
At a young age, David left El Salvador while the country was experiencing war. His journey eventually took him to Mexico, where he lived for about a year before making his way to Los Angeles, California. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dora Flores.
Together, David and Dora built a family and were blessed with two daughters, Ana and Rebecca. Later in life, David was blessed with a son-in-law and two grandchildren, whom he loved very deeply and cherished dearly.
David was a good man, known for his deep love for the Lord, joyful personality, sense of humor, and beautiful childlike spirit. He had a way of bringing happiness wherever he went, and he was someone who could easily become a friend to anyone he met.
His faith was at the center of his life. David loved singing and dancing to Gospel music, and his love for the Lord could be seen not only in his words, but in the way he treated others. He was the kind of person who would not think twice about helping someone in need.
One of the things that touched his heart most was helping people experiencing homelessness. Having known what it was like to have very little, David understood the struggles of others and showed them compassion without judgment. His generosity was simply a part of who he was.
David loved the ocean and the outdoors. One of his dreams was to someday return to his beloved country of El Salvador and enjoy its beautiful places and attractions. Despite the struggles he experienced throughout his life, he remained a joyful and forgiving person who chose to love, laugh, help others, and enjoy the life God had given him.
On September 29, 2026, David passed away at Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was loved by many, and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that David is now at rest, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:8
