Frank Lewis Hanagarne Jr., 68, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, in Logan, Utah, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Frank was born in Shiprock, New Mexico, to Frank Hanagarne Sr. and Lily Homer. He grew up in New Mexico and graduated from high school in Farmington before pursuing further education in mining. He earned a degree in metallurgy from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, followed by an MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a postgraduate degree in Risk Management from the University of Queensland in Australia.

On December 30, 1977, Frank married the love of his life, Linda Dalton, in Moab, Utah. Together they built a marriage of nearly fifty years and a family that was the center of his world.

Frank devoted his entire career to the mining industry. His work carried him around the world, where he held a wide range of roles across mining operations and finance. He took great pride in his profession and the people he worked alongside.

Frank loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and more recently discovered a passion for pottery. He enjoyed playing football and basketball, and was famous in the family for exaggerating just how good he was at all sports. He was also a wonderful cook that took great pleasure in preparing and sharing meals with the people he loved. More than any hobby, though, Frank treasured time spent with his family.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frank served faithfully throughout his life in many capacities. At the time of his passing, he was serving as a Shift Coordinator in the Logan Utah Temple and as Bishop of the Paradise 2nd Ward.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank Hanagarne Sr., and his mother, Lily Homer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hanagarne; his children and their spouses, Josh and Danette Hanagarne, Megan and Derek Horton, Kyle and Ellie Hanagarne, and Lindsey and Ben Owens; his grandchildren, Sydnee Hanagarne, Abigail Bequeaith, Max Hanagarne, Eve Owens, Ivy Owens, Anna Owens, Dalton Hanagarne, and Kimmy Hanagarne; and his siblings, David and his spouse Laura Hanagarne, Teena Ray, and Bill Hanagarne.

Frank’s family would like to express gratitude to all the staff at Logan Regional Hospital for the professional and caring treatment they gave him.
