Gordon Odell Bronson PLYMOUTH - Gordon Odell Bronson, 83, died January 17, 2002, at the Veteran?s Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born December 10, 1918, in Tremonton, Utah, a son of George Amos and Marguerite Wilcox Bronson. He married Edith Hunsaker on December 15, 1945, in Tremonton, Utah and the marriage was sealed in the Logan LDS Temple, March 18, 1955. She was his sweetheart and constant companion for over 56 years. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served until October, 1945. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, fighting in Operation Market-Garden and the Battle of the Bulge where he received an injury that left him with headaches for the rest of his life. He was Commander of Borgstrom Brothers Post 4220 where he organized toys for tots and was the drill sergeant in parades, Memorial Day services, and funerals for comrades killed in action. He was a salesman at the lumber and hardware store in Tremonton. He did custom farm work and purchased his own farm north of Plymouth. He also worked at the sugar factory and drove a school bus. He was active in the community as a member of the ASCS committee and a board member of the Bear River Valley Nursing Home. His faith and testimony were manifest as he served in many positions in the LDS Church, especially as a dedicated home teacher. He loved working in the MIA and playing ball with the boys. He was a counselor to two bishops and served as bishop of the Belmont Ward for six years. At the time of his death, he was one of the Patriarchs in the Fielding Utah Stake. He and Edith served a church service mission to Adam-Ondi-Ahman in Missouri for 2 ½ years. He was an avid baseball fan and player. He enjoyed barbershop music and swing dancing. His majestic stature was matched only by his sense of humor and his service to God, country, fellow man, and family. He is survived by his wife and the following three daughters, two sons and their spouses: Connie & Byron Ward, West Bountiful; Rita & Robert Olsen, Tempe, Arizona; Jean & Roger Cannon, Thatcher; Tyler & Ruth Ann Bronson, Plymouth; Corey & Yvonne Bronson, Plymouth. He has 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Byron & Sheryl Gae Bronson; two sisters, Joyce & Henry Bissegger; Beverly & Larry Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held Tues., Jan. 22, 2002, 11 am at the Belmont First Ward . Friends may call Monday, Jan. 21, from 6-8 pm at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:40 at the church. Interment in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
