With the deepest sadness and a heavy heart, we share that our beloved Laura Rogel Mendez passed away on March 17, 2026, in her home in Logan, Utah, at the age of 26. She was born on August 20, 1999, in Ogden, Utah, to Alicia Mendez and Jaime Rogel. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Olivia, and son, Sebastian; her husband, Manuel; her parents, Alicia and Jaime; and her sisters, Maria and Susana.
Laura not only logged out of this world—she spawned into it, based on the true, warped perspective of her then 9- and 8-year-old sisters. From the moment she appeared in their lives, they roamed and had many adventures in the streets of Ogden before relocating to the calmer neighborhoods of Logan in 2002.
Laura grew up in Logan and became a restless spirit. Against all odds, her rebellious steps led her exactly where she was meant to be—to her two wonderful children, Olivia and Sebastian.
Laura graduated from Cache High, where she met her high school sweetheart, Manuel, who apparently had to beg for her attention for quite some time. Well, it worked. They were married on Halloween in 2018.
Laura was extremely intelligent, determined, bold, kind, funny, sarcastic, mysterious, and quite quiet; yet despite this, her presence could not be missed. She loved sunflowers and the color black. When we say she loved black, we mean it—we often compared her to Morticia and Wednesday Addams.
She had an “unhealthy” obsession with coconuts and limes, and cucumbers sprinkled with salt. She loved eating tomatoes as if they were fruit and bought at least six pounds per week to satisfy those cravings. She loved many types of food, but we’ll leave some details for the viewing.
She loved gaming and enjoyed playing Call of Duty and Fortnite. She was also a big fan of anime and loved shows like One Piece, Demon Slayer, Bleach, My Hero Academia, Naruto, and Solo Leveling. We even verified this with Olivia, so it must be true.
Her music taste was a reflection of who she was—too layered and vast to be boxed into a single genre. She loved Bad Bunny, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, Queen, Michael Jackson, and plenty of 80s music.
She was always drawn to the creepiest things in life and enjoyed watching movies by Tim Burton, as well as IT and the works of Junji Ito.
She was also a very private person, so we hope she doesn’t get mad at us for writing this.
Her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
We love you now and forever, beyond the stars and dark spaces of the cosmos—beyond our lifespans—where we will one day mingle and intertwine once again.
