Marjorie Slade Van Horn returned to her Heavenly home and many family members and friends on October 26, 2025.
Marjorie was born May 13, 1946 in Payson Utah. She was blessed to be adopted by her Uncle and Aunt H. Edward and Nellie Slade who wanted to keep her and her two older twin sisters together. Ed and Nellie found that adding these three girls to their own two children gave them five very busy children, Marjorie being the youngest. This was a challenge, but there was lots of love, and raised them in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Marjorie was blessed to grow up in the town of Eagar, which is nestled in the White Mountains of Arizona. Marjorie had the blessing of having her grandparents close by and loved them dearly; as well as learning from them.
She learned to love the outdoors, her grandmothers’ chickens, beautiful pink flowers, dogs and cats. As she got older she loved music, dancing, skating, her older sisters and cousins.
Marjorie had many adventures in her life and later moved to New Mexico where she married and had her 3 Children, Kelly VanHorn McGough, Veronica VanHorn Johnson, and Keith Brown.
She later met and married the love of her life, Donald Van Horn in August 20, 1979. Later they were sealed in the Mesa Temple. They eventually moved to Colorado to start a new adventure that soon took them all back to Arizona and then to retire in Logan Utah.
Throughout these years Marjorie’s testimony of the Savior and His precious Atonement became very personal to her. She shared her love of the gospel and its teachings with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, Primary children and anyone who she could share with. She provided endless service to anyone she could, even throughout her declining health.
Marjorie and Don were devoted Temple Workers for many years. Her family will miss her, but her example lives on through her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Many thanks and love go to Legacy House and Sunshine Hospice for the wonderful care and support they have provided Marjorie and us during this time. ❤️
