Meledy Ricks was born February 8, 1949, to Norman Earl Ricks and Berniece Williams Ricks in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the third child of nine children. Meledy loved playing outdoors, helped weed the family gardens, and was a great housekeeper. In the winter she loved to ice skate on a nearby canal, ride sleds down the side of a potato pit, and getting pulled on a sled behind the family car. She learned to help and serve others by taking food and clothes to neighbors in need. Meledy shared whatever she had and made sure the needs of others were met before her own. Meledy knew how to cheer up others even when things were tough for her. She served others throughout her life. As a youth she developed a severe kidney infection but recovered. Meledy graduated from Madison High school in Rexburg, Idaho. She received an Associate Degree from Ricks College where she was active in the Valkyrie Service Organization and the Geology Club. Meledy had a love for gems. On December 26, 1969, she married Alan Wayne Lords in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had many callings in various organizations over the years.
Meledy obtained a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in Early Childhood Education and later, a masters degree in special education and child development. She loved children and taught PreSchool and Elementary for many years. Meledy was a loving, patient, selfless Christ-like person. Her family was her whole life and loved them very much. She is survived by her husband Alan Wayne Lords, her children Adrian (Mona) Lords, Karissa (Dell) Keck, Melinda (Christian) Lewis, Shawn (Aimee) Lords, Quinton (Melissa) Lords, and Derek Lords, and 30 grandchildren, her mother, Berniece Williams Ricks Boyle, four brothers, Paul, Michael, Reid and Kurt Ricks, and four sisters Janice Wilson, Karena Beatty, Georgia Hagler, and Beverly Bennett.
