With profound sadness and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Melissa Ann Alvares, who unexpectedly gained her angel wings on August 2nd, 2025, after a tragic ATV accident. Melissa was born on August 5th, 1986, to Jolynn and Sammy Alvares in Smithfield, where she spent her entire life and raised a beautiful family with the love of her life, Kory Davis.
Throughout her life, Melissa dedicated herself to her work at Casper’s Ice Cream, where she made lasting friendships and was known for her hard work and dedication. Her passion for her job was clear, and she found joy in serving others. She created a close-knit work family, and her positive attitude and commitment to excellence left a lasting mark on everyone she worked with. Many will fondly remember her as the heart of the place, always there to lend a helping hand and brighten the day with her warm spirit.
Melissa had a warm and welcoming nature that made everyone feel like part of her circle. If you were lucky enough to know her, you were sure to be greeted with her infectious laughter and a heart of gold. She was quick to embrace new friendships, and her generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Her presence lit up every room, and she brought joy to any gathering, no matter how big or small. Melissa was known for her love of life and her ability to enjoy every moment. Whether it was a family gathering, a quiet moment with friends, or a fun night out, she lived life to the fullest. And yes, she could always be counted on to get down on the dance floor, proving that no party was ever complete without her energy.
Melissa had a way of lightening the mood, especially when things weren’t going well. Quick with a funny, loving comment, Melissa made sure you knew she was there for you. And if you ever needed a little encouragement or sass, you could be reminded she would say, "I’ll kick your bleeping a**," showing you that she was in charge and always ready to back you up if ever needed.
Melissa’s love for her children was the center of her life. They were her pride and joy. She worked to provide them with everything they needed, always showing up and doing what needed to be done. Her commitment to their well-being will never be forgotten.
Melissa is survived by her loving partner of 23 years, Kory Davis, and their children, Destiny (Braxton Balls), Bryce, and Rhettley; her mother, Jolynn Alvares; grandmother, Lona Low; father-in-law, Terry Davis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sammy (Lacee) Low, Justin (Ashlee) Alvares, Kris (Nary) Davis, Kody Davis, Stevie (Jonie) Davis, and Tayia Plastow; along with many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her best friend, Erin Fernandez.
She is preceded in death by her father, Sammy Alvares; cousin Mike Alvares; and her grandparents Daniel and Florinda Alvares, Dick Low, and Sheri Davis.
A viewing will take place on Thursday evening, August 7, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., located at 162 E 400 N, Logan, UT 84321.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up at America First Credit Union under the name Melissa Alvares to assist the family. You may also donate directly to Kory Davis and his family via Venmo @Kory-Davis-23 (last 4 digits: 4528).
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from all who have offered their condolences. Your kindness has brought us comfort during this difficult time.
In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take, the relationships we were too busy to nurture, and the love we didn’t give. Let Melissa’s passing remind us to love deeply, forgive quickly, and live with no regrets, for we never know when our last moments together will come.
Melissa loved lilies, so please take the time to plant some lilies in remembrance of our sweet Melissa.
