Michael Van Horn

May 31, 1944 — February 6, 2023

Michael Van Horn (78) passed away on Monday, February 6th 2023. A beloved son, brother, father ,husband and friend. Mike was born in Denver, Colorado on May 31, 1944 to Richard and Alice Van Horn.
Mike served with the Army as a M.P. in Germany. He had a love for the natural beauty of the world. He would take any excuse to be surrounded by nature. Often times, he’d call his mother just to tell her he’s getting paid to go to Beaver Mountain while he worked for the Forest Service.
She always told him he had to get an education and a real job instead of spending time in the wilderness. When he wasn’t in the woods, you would find him on the square dance floor. Any chance he got, he’d try to convince people to come to one or two dances to see how much fun it was. After he retired from the Forrest service, he took a job with Thomas Edison Charter School in N. Logan as a custodian to be closer to his children who were his world.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Ted Van Horn; and his sister Kathy Schwanner.
Mike is survived by his wife, Linda Anderson; his children, Jen Lin Russell; Tai Ming Russell; Sann Chey Russell; his siblings, Patty Ball(Jerry); Jim Van Horn; and Linda's children, Valene Burnett (Calvin) Billee Sessions(Lynn) Jeremy Anderson (Sheri) Jon Anderson (Lark) Jay Anderson, Heidi Williams( Chase) and Linda's Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and many others who loved him. He had a special bond with one grandchild in particular, Eva Williams. They spent a lot of time together, watching movies, cooking steaks, and he even went on a vacation with her family to South Dakota this past October. There will be no Funeral services per his request. The family will do a private celebration of life at a later time.
