Monte Glen Coleman, 93, of North Logan Utah, passed away peacefully at his home on June 13th, 2025. Monte was born March 11, 1932 to Glen Coleman and Millie Ann Egan.
He graduated from North Cache High School. At the age of 19, he joined the army reserves where he served honorably for 20 years. He retired in 1971.
On July 2, 1954, he married his sweetheart, Barbara, in Cornish Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple in 2013. Together they shared 71 years of love and adventures.
He spent 20 years working for the Cache County Sheriffs Office as a deputy in corrections. While there, in addition to transporting inmates he also coordinated community service projects.
From 1971 until his death Monte served countless hours with the Cache County Search and Rescue and Utah State Search and Rescue organizations. Within these organizations he held many leadership positions including commander and as a member of the State Search and Rescue Reimbursement Committee. In 1993 he was honored with the Rex L. Huntsman Memorial Award for his service.
He loved spending time in the mountains, especially camping with his family. He took great joy in watching his family grow. He was always kind and willing to lend a helping hand. He leaves behind a legacy of love, honor, and service. He was truly a treasure to all and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughters, Jackie Giles (Garth) and Lori Bunn (Merlin), 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, and one brother Jerry Coleman (Linda).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Aaron Giles.
No funeral services will be held. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 21, at the Smithfield Cemetery at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Cache County Search and Rescue.
