Richard Elman Gill, born on June 12, 1941, in Weston, Idaho, gracefully passed away on January 18, 2026, in Providence, Utah. He was a devoted father, a cherished brother, and a beloved husband, whose warmth and charm touched the hearts of many.
Richard's journey through life was marked by a strong work ethic and an adventurous spirit. He wore many hats throughout his career, working as a computer operator at Universal Studios, engaging in pool cleaning, exploring aviation with Cirrus, displaying his craftsmanship as a carpenter, and mastering the art of assembling furniture at Lay-Z-Boy. Each role reflected his industrious personality and unwavering dedication to providing for his family. Beyond his professional endeavors, Richard also served honorably in the Army, exemplifying his commitment to service.
Educated at Venice High School in California, Richard’s journey was also one of personal growth. He took pride in his accomplishments, including serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western States Mission—a period during which he truly showed his devotion, as his wife, Janice Coy Knudson Gill, patiently waited for two years for his return to marry him.
Described as a nice, hardworking man with a charismatic presence, Richard had a flair for life that drew people to him. He connected with others through his engaging personality. His love of barbershop quartets allowed him to share joy through music, while his hobbies like cross stitching and camping depicted a gentle and creative soul who appreciated both beauty and nature.
Richard took great pride in his family. He leaves behind his three loving daughters, Lori (Gary L.) Jamieson, Kathy (Robert S.) Wynn, and Sheri (Mark) Nunley. His legacy continues with five adoring grandchildren who will surely carry forward his spirit. He shared a special bond with his brother, Ronald Gill, who undoubtedly will remember Richard for his laughter and life lessons.
Though he has left this world, Richard reunites with those who have gone before him, including his beloved wife, Janice, and his gracious parents, Marion Alfred and Virginia Lorraine (Bentz) Gill. The memory of his grandson, John Chase Eggleston, will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Richard’s life touched so many, and his story will be celebrated. Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on January 23, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Nelson Funeral Home in Logan, UT, followed by a graveside service at Logan City Cemetery at 1:00 PM, where memories will be cherished.
As we remember Richard, we honor a man whose life was full of love, service, and dedication. His spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him, and his kindness will forever remain a guiding light.
